Description: Scarf, batik cap on kimono silk
Origin: Pekalongan, Central Java
This scarf is batik tjap, made with the traditional stamped wax resist applied by a hand crafted copper stamps known as a tjap. After being dipped in the indigo vat, the wax is removed to reveal the resist, in white undyed cloth. The batik is done on Japanese kimono silk in Pekalongan on the northern coast of Java. It is 15″wide and 72″ long.
