A palette of natural dye colors. Along the irrigation ditches in the sawa there is a prolific ground cover called widelia Mr. Morimoto from Wisdom From the Forest project showed me this plant and its usefulness as a source for natural dye color
He suggested that I try many different leaves from the garden, cooking them down to render the colorant. These colors were all produced from plants found in my garden. Scarves colored again in a cold natural dye bath, the wax removed in boiling water. Bamboo motif applied with melted wax and a brush.
Multiple dips into an indigo dye bath produce very rich deep colors. The cloth is immersewd into the indigo vat, then removed to oxidize. My garden in the rainy season.
